🛠️ Can’t Park Your Car? How Garage Reengineering Gave This Homeowner More Space

When Garage Posts Get in the Way

A homeowner recently contacted us with a common frustration—a garage too tight to fully use.
Two bulky support posts in the center made it hard to park, store tools, or move around.
This is a classic case where garage support post removal can completely transform a home.

The Challenge: Open the Garage Without Sacrificing Safety

The posts were there for a reason: they supported the second story.
But they didn’t have to stay in the middle.
Our team at Wire Works with Woods Contracting offered a safe, engineered solution to remove the support posts and maintain full stability.

The Engineering Solution: Steel Beams + Hidden Support

We started by safely removing the columns and placing temporary supports.
Next, we installed a horizontal steel beam where the posts once stood.
To reinforce the load, we tied it into a perpendicular steel beam.
Instead of placing new supports in the center, we recessed steel columns into the garage walls.

This is what garage support post removal done right looks like—safe, strong, and seamless.

The Result: Open, Clean, and Fully Functional

The result was a wide, open garage—completely unobstructed and fully supported.
The homeowner could now park easily and enjoy a brighter, more usable space.
More freedom, more storage, and less frustration.
