When our client needed a durable and stylish solution, we delivered a complete waterproof deck construction from the ground up. This wasn't a repair—it was a brand-new build. The previous deck had begun to rot and wasn’t safe to keep. So, we started fresh, with longevity, waterproofing, and visual appeal in mind.
We first removed the existing deck. It was structurally unsound, making it unsafe. We also removed anything under the old deck, including old patio stones and we leveled the ground for concrete patio pour!
Once cleared, we carefully planned a new frame to support the floating composite deck system. To ensure proper drainage, we sloped the framed deck and added the subfloor. Over that, we installed a waterproof membrane to seal out moisture completely—key to any waterproof deck construction.
We chose Trex composite decking for its durability and low maintenance. Before laying the deck, we flashed all sides and laid sleeper boards across the top of the waterproof membrane. Then, we installed the floating composite decking across the platform.
This process gave the deck a sleek look—and kept the area underneath bone dry.
We installed new railing posts and waterproofed them before mounting sleek black metal railings.
For the ceiling below, we added soffit planks for a clean, finished look, sealed all joints with caulk, and painted the surface to match the overall aesthetic.
Fascia boards around the edges added that final polished detail. We also built a brand-new stairway for easy access.
What sets this waterproof deck construction apart is the custom patio underneath. Designed for the homeowner’s hot tub, we installed textured concrete and sealed it with a protective color coating.
